Mexico City Vacations

I have just returned from 3 weeks touring in Mexico, visiting Mexico City, Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Merida, Chichen Itsa and Tulum. All fabulous and fascinating, and made stress free by the excellent organisation of in-country flights, tour guides and hotels by Sonia and her team. About 8 months ago I sent Sonia a rough list of where I wanted to go and what I wanted to see, and she put together a detailed itinerary, with various options for hotels and sites. She chose small but good quality boutique type hotels located in safe and accessible parts of the various cities, which was important to me as most of the time I was travelling on my own. All the guides arrived on time to collect me from my hotels, were knowledgeable, spoke good English, asked me about my interests and priorities, and varied the tours to ensure those were covered. I am very happy to recommend Sonia and her team to others, and as I say, I may well be doing a return visit to Mexico in the next couple of years!

Mexico city is a great experience, so make sure you spend a day or two there to discover the urban version of the Mexican way of life. You'll see the famous Zocalo (central plazza) with its cathedral, but also the park Bosque de Chapultepec, and the different areas of the city. It's big, noisy, with a lot of cars and some dodgy areas so make sure you know where you're going!
