This is a pre-hispanic city about 50 kilometres from Mexico City which had a second life during the Aztec era.
The city's history is still mysterious. Be sure to visit the site with a guide, who is much better than a book when it comes to telling you about the questions that have been raised by the incredible recent discoveries, and the conclusions that have been drawn from them.
50 km from Mexico City, the archaeological site of Teotihuacán is right next door to the capital and is a hymn to the glory of the Sun and the Moon.
My only advice is, if you want to see the place relatively peacefully, come during the week and very early in the morning. The rest of the time the site is really crowded.
