Kanchanaburi is a place famous for its bridge over the River Kwai and its dark past concerning the building of the "death railway" during World War II.

My suggestion

The tour by train is very touristy but does give you excellent views of the surrounding countryside.

Kanchanaburi, in the west of the country, is a beautiful region visited mainly for the bridge on the River Kwai and for the national parks in the area.

My suggestion

It is possible to reach to Kanchanaburi by train from Bangkok, which is a very convenient way to get there.
