The city of Arba Minch is nothing special in itself, but it is an important stop on the south road.
 It is divided into the lower town and the upper town, from where there is a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding lakes (Chamo and Abaya).
 It is worth stopping here just for that, even more so because the ecolodges here are fantastic! Further up in the mountains the land of the Dorze a few kilometres ahead is unmissable, particularly <a href="/ethiopia/">Chencha</a>. 
Stop off at the community of the Dorze weavers who live in traditional huts with remarkable architecture and who sell some of the most well-known materials in the country. You can even take a trip on the Chamo or Abaya lakes to watch the hippopotamus and crocodiles. 
To save time on the road to Omo Valley, I flew straight into Arba Minch from <a href="/ethiopia/">Addis Ababa</a>.
