Near to Omalo, in the part of Tusheti where they speak Tchaghma, the steepest valley in the region, Chenako is a bit different to the villages of Pirikiti or <a>Gométsari.</a> 
When I arrived in Chenako I was surprised to find it quite Alpine like, gentler, not as rough as the rocky valleys north of Omalo. Chenako is a perfect Alpine village which encourages you to spend time meditating and contemplating the landscape, especially as there is a small hotel where you can stay there.
In my opinion the principal attraction is Chenako's church. It's a good example of Kakhetian architecture, in dry stones like the rest of the village and it dominates the place from a small promontory opposite the imposing peaks in neighbouring Dagestan. Opposite the village, which is the summer town you can also see, dotted along the little valley, the winter houses where the shepherds spent six long months...
