Pemayangtse Gompa is a superb monastery a stone's throw from Pelling, in Sikkim.
My suggestion
Make the journey with the monks from Pelling and stop en route at Lotus Bakery. The profits are spent on the school opposite. It gives a spiritual education to orphan children or those coming from far away.
