Cancun, a non-stop party place for for American spring breakers is situated on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico.
My suggestion
If you're a party animal and have money to spend, then this place is for you. If you're looking for the country's soul, untouched landscapes and privacy... strike this town off your to do list.
The turquoise water and white sand explain why the site is so popular. Cancun has got everything going for it. Nowadays, it's a very touristy destination, and this has rather spoiled this small coastal Mexican town.
My suggestion
I loved swimming in Cancun's clear water and discovering its flora and fauna. It's a different world under the sea, so why not put on a snorkel and dive in head first!

Don't stay in Cancún for long. Unless you've come to party in a place no longer bearing any resemblance to the real Mexico, you'll be wasting your time.
