In the center of Anatolia, balanced between tradition and modernity, Konya is an interesting town.
My suggestion
Every year, around the middle of December, Konya is the site of the Mevlâna festival, which is dedicated to the whirling dervishes.

Konya is an important center for the Sufis. And of course the order of the whirling dervishes was founded here. 
My suggestion
Most visitors who come to Konya only visit the Mevlana museum. But the town has lots more to offer (old mosques and madrasahs, parks, gastronomy, etc.). So don't be afraid to spend a little time there.
